Wing’n It in BG

Fanatics have many places, flavors and plenty of heat levels to choose from.

Three high school friends who became business partners to open the newest addition to the competitive barbecue/chicken wing restaurant scene in Bowling Green, never saw themselves doing this specifically. “We knew that we wanted to open up a business, says co-owner Garrett Burgoon of Wings Over Bowling Green. “But a restaurant never crossed our mind.”

But what Garrett Burgoon says that he and co-owners Tyler Cook and Lance Helming did know was “that we all agreed we did not want to have any bosses.” So following paths that took them to separate colleges, the three opened the newest wing franchise in town earlier this year the new marketplace building on East Wooster Street near downtown. Opening in the new building has been a plus for wings Over Bowling Green, in an environment that anyone would consider competitive to say the least with other established restaurants featuring wings including Buffalo Wild Wings, Fricker’s, Jed’s Fireballs and Brew, and Quarter’s Bar and Grill.

But Barrett says opening in a new building has helped, located in a high traffic area and, of course, it is their product that has helped them build a loyal customer base in a relatively short period of time. “”Starting out in a clean, fresh store truly helped our business,” says Burgoon. “(But) The biggest thing that sets us apart from all other restaurants is our freshness and quality. We cook all our fresh chicken at the time of the order.”

Beyond their location and food, Burgoon says that they offer free delivery and have extended hours Wing’n It in BG Fanatics have many places, flavors and plenty of heat levels to choose from to help set themselves apart from
other businesses. Wings Over Bowling Green is open until 3 a.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1 a.m. Sunday-Tuesday.

The restaurant features a variety of options, all creatively named after airplane models. For example, a DC 10 is one-pound plus of boneless wings while a B-17 Bomber is 60 regular wings. The menu offers four different “Hangers” or combos, that are popular, Depending on how many people are being fed and for larger groups, of 15 or more, the “Aircraft Carrier” combos offers price and quality. Wings Over Bowling Green also features ribs, too, smothered in one of their signature sauces, slow cooked for at least eight hours and then charred on the grill for added flavor.
