Lyric Auto:
Lyric Auto has Built a Quality Reputation for Car Repair in the Bowling Green Area
At first glance, Lyric Auto LLC may seem like your traditional auto vehicle shop in Bowling Green. However, the shop has a unique specialization in repairing imported cars.
Volkswagen owners and childhood friends, Rick Kern, and the late Lyle Yackee cofounded Lyric Auto in 1972. Volkswagens had air-cooled engines, and although there were a lot of them in the area at
the time, there was no one able work on them locally.
“A lot of places wouldn’t work on Volkswagens because they were so different,” said, Rick Kern’s wife, Anne. This led Rick and Lyle to fulfill that need, and start working on the cars.
Yackee and Kern merged their first names, “Ly” and “Ric” to formulate the name, Lyric Auto. Business began as they first began working on their friend’s Volkswagens. But business flourished and Lyric Auto expanded business, and began working oadditional foreign models, such as Hondas and Toyotas.
Anne joined the business in 1976. After years of managing the shop, it is now in the hands of the Kern’s son, Erik.
Lyric Auto has developed a quality reputation in the Bowling Green community. Working closely with around 20-30 customers a day, the Kern’s take pride in having a unique business in a competitive market.
“We are your dealer alternative,” said Kern. Lyric Auto regularly welcomes new customers and offers various services. The business has current equipment, and loaner cars are often available to those that have their vehicles in the shop.
