Health Center:

Sara Meyer Connects Students and Community with Hospital Health Center

“For our team, every day is different. They consist of creating and executing marketing campaigns for the many departments, providers and programs the hospital offers. The marketing department’s goal is to make sure the community is aware of the services, technology and programs offered through the hospital for our community,” Meyer said.  All of the work Meyer and her team does is executed through the hospital’s different social media platforms. When they need to promote a specific service or treatment the hospital offers they work on creating marketing plans and then implementing those plans through all types of media.

“One of our new programs is the New Vision medical stabilization program that is a medical stabilization program designed to help those with drug and alcohol addiction. The hospital works to provide services that are needed by our community, and unfortunately, there is a growing need for services like this. Our goal is to make sure that those that need it are aware that they can find it here,” Meyer said. While creating and promoting programs meant to deal with addiction might not be a “fun task,” it is vitally important and needs to be done. And it is creation of these new innovations that keeps Meyer busy as it is an never-ending challenge increasing community awareness of all Wood County Hospital services.

As the Marketing and Business Development Director, Meyer does not often get to work directly with patients of the hospital. That does not mean that she does not keep them in mind everyday well completing task. “My position does not work directly with patient care on a day to daybasis in the traditional sense, but I can communicate with our current and potential patients each day through social media, commercials, radio, digital messaging along and many other ways. When not working directly with her own team, Meyer works closely with the different doctors from all the departments in order to present their message to the community.

She said she finds the work environment challenging with the myriad of programs and messages that need to be promoted to the community and to the students through the Falcon Health Center. And she sees the passion of her staff and the medical and support staff of Wood County Hospital and through everything, wants to share that message with the community. It’s safe to say that through her work and the growth of program services by Wood County Hospital, that she is effective in keeping the community informed of the great resource they have locally through the Falcon health Center and Wood County Hospital. Wood County Hospital’s Ready Care Service was recently moved to the facility where patients can receive treatment with no appointment needed for minor ailments and injuries needing prompt attention but not a visit to an emergency room.
