Jet’s Pizza Pizza:
Works To Be A Part of University and Community
Jet’s Pizza expanded into the Bowling Green area last year, landing at the north end of town near North Main Street and Van Camp Road, representing one of the latest offerings of the 300-store company based out of Sterling Heights, Mich.
Jet’s brings a Detroit-style deep dish pizza to Bowling Green, along with its “Jetzee” sandwiches, salads and chicken wings. Part owner of the BG Jet’s Pizza Kevin Couchman found his way to Bowling Green after graduating from The University of Michigan in 2012 to opening a Jet’s Pizza in Columbus, Ohio, in that same year. This store was the 16th store opened in the Columbus region.
Couchman’s family built the growth of Jet’s in the Columbus area and said he recognized the BG market as a good opportunity.
“My family told me of the opportunity in Columbus and I took it right out of college,” he said. Couchman is now the regional manager of the Columbus area. Jet’s Pizza prides itself on fresh ingredients and its deep-dish style pizza that is indicative of Detroit area pizza.
“Our deep dish sets us apart from the competition. We actually make our dough fresh, in-house every single day and it only has a 24-hour shelf life. A lot of other companies use frozen product, and all of ours is handmade and our vegetables are freshly chopped,” he said. Jet’s also offer four kinds of crust styles, thin crust, deep dish, hand-tossed, and New York style. Jet’s also delivers to about a sixmile radius, which includes all of Bowling Green, the south side of Perrysburg, and Portage. Coupons can be found online at the jetspizza.com, in the local paper at times, and even in the store on occasion. On Tuesdays you can get a small one topping for $4.99, which is around $3 cheaper than the base menu price. Couchman says don’t be put off by the base price of the pizzas, as the shop offers plenty of discounts and specials.
“We are really looking out for the customer, and their wallet,” Couchman said. “We are not just a chain, we really care for BG and we appreciate how welcoming everyone has been. We really hope to cement ourselves into the community as well.” Jet’s employs mostly college students in the hopes of better integration into the college community. This desire to work with the University is also supported by Jet’s working to be a cater to the University’s athletic department.
“We were really appreciative of how accepting and welcoming everyone in the community has been,” Couchman said.
